Yellow to Red: Our House Strain Color Tiers, Explained
Walk up to the flower counter at High Country Healing and you will notice something right away: our house strains are organized by color.
It is not just decoration. Our Yellow, Blue, Purple, Red, and Green labels offer a quick visual guide to where each strain sits on the sativa-to-indica spectrum—with Green reserved for our CBD-forward flower.
Every strain in these tiers is grown by our own cultivation team right here in Silverthorne. You can even see part of the process through the Show Grow window in our lobby, where floor-to-ceiling glass looks directly into the grow. When we tell you about a strain, we are talking about plants our team has watched from clone to cure.

Yellow marks our pure sativa genetics. These plants are typically tall and narrow-leafed, with longer flowering times and bright, citrusy, or skunky aromas.
Lime Skunk and Matt Foley are two house favorites in this tier. If you already know you enjoy sativas, Yellow is a natural place to begin.
Blue — Sativa Hybrid
Blue strains are hybrids that lean sativa. They retain plenty of sativa character while bringing some indica genetics into the family tree. Knuckles is one of our house strains in this tier.
Blue is a good tier to explore if a full sativa feels like a lot—or if you simply prefer a blend.
Purple — Indica Hybrid
Purple flips the balance. These hybrids lean indica, with denser buds and aromas that are often earthier or sweeter, while still carrying some sativa heritage.
It is a popular middle ground and a common customer pick for the end of a long day on the mountain.
Red — Full Indica
Red is our pure indica tier. Think compact, heavy, resin-coated flower with deep, rich aromas. Speciman X lives here, and customers who already know they prefer indica genetics often head straight for the Red section.
Green — CBD
Green covers our CBD-forward strains, bred for higher CBD content relative to THC.
If you are interested in flower with a lower-THC profile, ask a budtender what is available in the Green tier today.
A Starting Point, Not a Rulebook
Sativa and indica labels describe a plant’s genetics and growth characteristics. They are useful shorthand, but they do not tell the entire story.
Terpenes, cannabinoid levels, and your own individual experience all play a part. Two people can experience the same strain differently, which is why our color tiers are where the conversation starts—not where it ends.
Tell one of our budtenders what you have enjoyed before, and they can point you toward a few strains across the tiers worth exploring. Our team knows this flower because they work alongside the people who grow it.
Pick Your Own Bud
Once you have found a tier, you do not have to settle for a sealed jar.
At High Country Healing, our Pick Your Own Bud counter works like a deli: you can look over the available flower and select the individual buds you want. Like the look of that one in the corner? It is yours.
It is one of the things that makes shopping for house-grown flower here different. You see the plants through the Show Grow window, you see the flower at the counter, and you pick exactly what goes home with you.
